Much is written about Turkey's coasts and mountains, yet few sources speak in numbers. This report is based on the records of 6,974 nature spots listed on Obania: 1,918 beaches, 4,129 campervan parks, 387 highlands, 141 campsites, 353 nature parks and 46 national parks.

The Capital of the Blue Flag: Antalya

Of the 577 blue flag beaches registered on the platform, 238 are gathered in a single province. Antalya alone hosts 41 percent of them, followed by Muğla with 108, İzmir with 59, Balıkesir with 49 and Aydın with 39. The top five provinces account for more than three quarters of the total, so anyone looking for certified bathing water in Turkey will most likely end up on the southwestern coast.

There is a lesser known detail as well. Only 148 of the blue flag beaches are also free public beaches. The rest belong to hotels and beach clubs. On the free side, the platform lists 311 public beaches in total. The most reviewed among them is Ören Public Beach in Mersin, with more than 11,000 visitor reviews and a 4.4 rating. The data does not support the assumption that a free beach means a poor beach.

Campervans: The Quiet Giant

The largest category by far is campervan travel. Campervan parks lead the list with 4,129 records. Muğla with 332 and Antalya with 330 spots run neck and neck, İzmir follows with 214. Campervan tourism has been rising steadily in search trends, and the infrastructure map now stretches well beyond the western coastline.

Campsites: High Demand, Scattered Supply

The platform lists 141 dedicated campsites, plus 378 listings that offer tent camping as an accommodation option within a beach or highland area. Antalya leads with 16 campsites, İstanbul follows with 10. Search trends suggest that demand for camping, especially free camping, clearly exceeds the current supply.

Highlands and Parks

The highland category holds 387 records with a surprising distribution: Hatay leads with 133, followed by Erzurum with 67, Kars with 34 and Rize with 28. The Black Sea region is famous for its highland culture, yet the numbers suggest the south and the east deserve more attention than they get.

Among protected areas there are 46 national parks and 353 nature parks. Entry is free at 120 of the nature parks, while all national parks charge an entrance fee, typically per person as of 2026.

Rising Demand: Bungalows

The most striking gap in the report concerns bungalows. Bungalow searches rank among the highest volume nature travel queries in Turkey throughout the year. Yet only 13 listings on the platform currently offer a bungalow option, and just 3 of them are in Muğla. This gap between demand and supply points to bungalow hosting as the fastest growing opportunity in the field. Business owners in these regions can list their properties on Obania free of charge.

A Note on Method

All figures in this report were compiled from Obania platform records dated 17 July 2026. Rating data is calculated by blending visitor reviews. The data may be reused with attribution.
