Acarlar Longoz Ormanı Sulak Alanı
Stretching between the Karasu and Kaynarca districts of Sakarya, the Acarlar Longoz Forest is among the rare natural beauties in our country with the structure of its lowland terrain, its vegetation and the wildlife it harbours. Declared a wetland of national importance in 2019, the lake stands out as a flooded forest (longoz) whose interior is covered with forest, and it is Turkey's second largest longoz after İğneada. Running parallel to the Black Sea and 2 km from the sea, this wetland is about 12 km long and 1 to 1.5 km wide; its waters drain into the Black Sea via the Sakarya River. The lake, whose water regime varies according to climate and season, offers a rich habitat for nature photography, nature walks and nature tours. Day-use activities are concentrated in the Denizköy Neighbourhood area. The area, 60 km from Adapazarı and 10 km from the Karasu district, can be reached by private vehicle or by urban public transport.
