Amazon Tabiat Parkı
Registered in 2015 and covering about 562 hectares, Amazon Nature Park is located in the Terme district of Samsun, on the Black Sea coast. It takes its name from the warrior Amazon women said to have lived in the Terme region in the past. The park is one of the rare spots where the sea meets coniferous trees; it harbors floodplain forest, dune, and marine ecosystems together. The forests dominated by ash and alder species are accompanied by maritime pine and Turkish red pine plantations; sea daffodils grow on the coast opening to the Black Sea. The area is suitable for bird watching with rich bird species such as little egret, purple heron, mallard, coot, and peregrine falcon. Mammals such as wild boar, jackal, and roe deer also live in this natural habitat. The nearest airport to the park, which is 90 km from Samsun city center and 20 km from Terme district center, is Çarşamba Airport, 38 km away. The area is reached from Terme center via the road through the Sivaslılar and Gölyazı neighborhoods.
