Belen Geçidi Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2014 and covering 45 hectares, Belen Pass Nature Park is located in the Belen district of Hatay, in the Halilbey Mahallesi locality. It takes its name from the Belen Pass, an important bottleneck on bird migration routes, and this position makes it one of Turkey's most remarkable bird-watching spots. Dominated by Mediterranean vegetation such as Turkish red pine, kermes oak, terebinth, eastern strawberry tree and asphodel, the area shows its real richness in the sky. In the migration season thousands of birds glide over this pass; the stork, black stork, lesser spotted eagle, European honey buzzard, black kite, steppe eagle and great white pelican are among the most frequently observed species. The park offers an ideal setting for bird watching, wildlife observation, hiking and photography. The area has a country restaurant, day-use areas, walking paths, viewing terraces and a tent camping area. The park lies on the highway connecting Antakya and İskenderun and can easily be reached by public transport vehicles using this route.
