Günpınar Şelalesi Tabiat Parkı
Located in Malatya's Darende district, the 135-hectare Günpınar Waterfall Nature Park, named after the waterfall running through it, was placed under protection in 2018. The waterfall, fed by the Şuhul Deresi, together with the surrounding rocky areas and mountain steppes, harbors three different ecosystems side by side: aquatic, rocky, and terrestrial. At these high elevations of 1250-1500 meters, steppe vegetation typical of the Irano-Anatolian steppes dominates; species such as thyme and milkvetch cover the slopes. The coolness of the waterfall and the surrounding steppe scenery offer a tranquil setting for day trips and nature excursions. The park lies about 8 km west of the Darende district center. Via the Elbistan-Darende road branching off the D300 highway, you reach the Günpınar settlement, and from there a short distance further to the parking area at the park entrance. The nearest airport is Malatya Airport, 95 km away.
