Hamsilos Tabiat Parkı
Hamsilos Nature Park, in Sinop, is one of the finest examples of a ria-type coastal formation, where the sea penetrates the land like a river. It brings together Hamsilos Bay and Akliman Bay with the rich biological diversity formed by marshes, dunes, sea, and forested areas. Hamsilos Harbor, which resembles a fjord in appearance, was in fact formed when the Deveci Deresi Valley was drowned by the rising sea and turned into a harbor, and it presents visitors with a unique landscape in which sea, bay, and greenery come together. The park, home to beech, oak, ash, hornbeam, maritime pine, acacia, and rhododendron, is well suited to hiking, cycling, and rowboat excursions. The archaeological ceramic fragments in the harbor, the graves of old seafarers, and the Kadınlar Hamamı, where local people believe the Amazon women once bathed, add cultural depth to the area. The park, about 14 km from Sinop city center, is reached by connecting to the Akliman road from the Samsun-Sinop Highway. It is also possible to come by the Sinop-Akliman shared minibuses departing from the center.
