Karakoç Deresi Sulak Alanı
The Karakoç Stream, located near Balıkesir's Ayvalık district, was declared a wetland of local importance in 2017. This 38-hectare area stands out with its rich diversity of flora and fauna and, together with the natural beauty surrounding it, contributes to rural tourism. The wetland hosts a large number of bird species. Species such as herring gull, cormorant, flamingo, ruddy shelduck and mallard can be observed here. This richness turns the area into a preferred spot especially for birdwatching and nature photography. Visitors can spend enjoyable time in this setting, where birds can be watched and photographed in their natural habitats. The area is reached by turning right at the Altınova junction on the İzmir-Çanakkale road and continuing for about 2 km.
