Yüzen Adalar Tabiat Anıtı

Bingöl Solhan

4.1

Located in the Solhan district of Bingöl, at the Aksakal Göl hamlet of Hazarşah Village, the Floating Islands Natural Monument is home to one of the region's most remarkable natural phenomena. Three islands float on a crater lake set on flat terrain surrounded on three sides by mountains and hills. Moving independently within the lake, these islands glide slowly in every direction like rafts when stepped on. Ash trees and meadow grasses grow on the islands; the twining roots of the grasses hold the soil together, forming the floating structure. The lake's water is fresh and clear, it has a constant current, it is fed by springs, and its water level remains the same summer and winter. Its surroundings are covered with oak and greenery; wild pear, hawthorn and willow species can also be found. This entirely natural, extraordinary formation offers a unique stop for photography and hiking. It is one of the most distinctive examples of the character of Bingöl's tourism, which is built on natural beauty.
