Ahatlar Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2011, the 9.3-hectare Ahatlar Nature Park is located in Ahatlar Köyü in the Amasra district of Bartın, in an area surrounded by forest. Hornbeam, oak and Turkish red pine are the dominant species of the forest; hazelnut, rosehip, strawberry tree, laurel, medlar and four different orchid species, along with various mushrooms, form a rich vegetation. Squirrels, hedgehogs, tortoises and wild boar, as well as forest-dependent birds such as the hoopoe, goldfinch, blackbird, robin and woodpecker, can be seen in the area. Thanks to its proximity to the city center of Bartın and Amasra's year-round tourism potential, it is an important day-use area. A unique Black Sea view can be enjoyed from its three viewing terraces. In the park, where hiking, trekking, orienteering and picnicking are possible, there is a moderately difficult walking trail through the forest leading down to the sea; it is also suitable for country weddings and gatherings. The park, 23 km from Bartın, is easily reached by road.
