Çilingoz Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2011 in İstanbul's Çatalca district, the 17.75-hectare Çilingoz Nature Park is set in a rare cove where sea, forest, lake and reed beds intertwine. Its fine-sand beach, 80 meters wide, and the Çilingoz Deresi stream running along the north of the park form, where it reaches the cove, a large pool of water surrounded by reed beds. Beneath the forest dominated by beech, alder, hornbeam and Turkey oak spread shrub species such as rhododendron, strawberry tree and laurel. Its surroundings, notable for a rich bird fauna, were declared a Wildlife Protection Area in 2005 and a permanent hunting ban was introduced in the region. Ideal for hiking, photo safaris and day-use recreation, the park also offers the possibility of tent camping. The park can be reached by private vehicle via Çatalca to Binkılıç Beldesi and from there by forest road; those arriving by public transport can reach the area by taxi from Binkılıç.
