Darıdere Tabiat Parkı
Located within the boundaries of the Edremit district of Balıkesir, just west of Kazdağı National Park, Darıdere Nature Park was declared a nature park in 2011 with its 10-hectare area. A small part of the Kazdağları ecosystem, the park, with its forest texture surrounded by the Mıhlı Stream and its scenic integrity, is a corner of nature well suited for relaxation. The dominant tree species of the park are black pine and chestnut; Turkish red pine, stone pine, alder, plane, linden and oak species enrich the forest. Aromatic plants such as thyme, sage and laurel are also characteristic of the region. Wildlife is quite diverse: alongside bears, roe deer, jackals, foxes, squirrels and wild boars, woodpeckers, sparrowhawks, buzzards and various songbirds can be seen in the area. With its lodging unit, tent and caravan camping areas, country restaurant, kiosk and sanitary facility complex, it offers visitors both day-use and overnight options. The area is reached via the Narlı village road from the 32nd kilometer of the İzmir-Çanakkale highway after Edremit; its distance to the district center is 48 kilometers.
