Gölbaşı Gölleri Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2008, the 2,080-hectare Gölbaşı Lakes Nature Park in Adıyaman's Gölbaşı district is an important wetland ecosystem bringing together three freshwater lakes. The Gölbaşı, Azaplı and İnekli (Yeşilova) lakes within the site are connected to one another by channels; their surroundings are covered with reed beds, rush beds and peatlands, while water lilies spread across their shallow waters. These lakes of karstic-tectonic origin are fed by rain, snow and small streams; their water levels rise in the winter and spring months. The lagoons and wetland fabric create a rich habitat for resident and migratory waterbirds. The walking and running track along the shore of Gölbaşı Lake, children's playgrounds, a bird observation house and gazebos, as well as the viewing terrace and bird observation tower at Azaplı Lake and in the village of Bağlarbaşı, welcome day visitors. With birdwatching, photo safari, hiking and cycling routes, the park can be reached by road, air and rail; the nearest airport is about 75 km away.
