Hemşin Şelaleleri Tabiat Parkı
Located within the boundaries of Akyamaç Village in Rize's Hemşin district, Hemşin Waterfalls Nature Park is a 50-hectare natural area declared in 2014. As its name suggests, the park stands out with its waterfalls and is a discovery route hidden within the rich forest fabric of the Eastern Black Sea. The park's vegetation consists mainly of broad-leaved trees; forest communities where beech, chestnut, alder and spruce grow together cover a wide area. Among these trees, elm, maple and hornbeam appear sparsely, while the understory holds shrubs such as rhododendron, elder, cherry laurel and bilberry, along with various ferns and flowering plants. In total, 146 different plant taxa belonging to 48 families have been identified. Visitors can take nature walks in the park, join botanical and flora observation tours, and enjoy nature and the waterfalls from scenic viewpoints. The nature park can be entered from two separate points, via the Hemşin district and the Akyamaç-Nurluca village roads; its distance to Rize-Artvin Airport is 25 km.
