Karaahmetli Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2009, the 107-hectare Karaahmetli Nature Park lies southwest of Kırıkkale, near Karaahmetli Village in the Bahşılı district, on the western shore of the Kapulukaya Dam Lake on the Kızılırmak River. With its deep valleys, its forest structure and especially the water views offered by the dam lake, it is an area highly suitable for recreation. Most of the park consists of a steppe ecosystem; 235 plant species have been identified within its boundaries, 7 of which have been determined to be endemic. The surroundings are home to 63 bird species, 15 mammal and 12 reptile species; the Kapulukaya Dam Lake harbors 13 fish species as well as the endangered otter. The lake shore and the surrounding steppe and forest fabric provide suitable conditions for hiking, cycling and angling. Alongside its natural beauty, the park brings together various ecosystems that also allow for scientific research.
