Milli Egemenlik Tabiat Parkı
Located on the Zonguldak-Ankara highway in Zonguldak's Çaycuma district, Milli Egemenlik Nature Park was registered as a recreation area in 1986 and declared a nature park in 2011. Its boundaries were redrawn in 2017, and today the site covers approximately 27 hectares. Covered with beech, hornbeam and oak trees, the park has rich vegetation; studies have identified 72 families and 286 taxa. The area is also lively in terms of fauna: traces of marten, fox, hare and wild boar can be found, and bears and roe deer are occasionally seen. With species such as the coal tit, chaffinch, magpie, nuthatch and goldfinch, the park is also well suited to birdwatching. Access to the park, located on a dual-carriageway asphalt road, is quite easy. Shared minibuses running to the districts of Çaycuma, Devrek and Gökçebey pass right in front of the park, which keeps visitor numbers high. With nature walks, cycling and scenic views, it is a pleasant day-trip stop.
