Nemrut Dağı Milli Parkı
Declared a national park in 1988, the 13,850-hectare Nemrut Dağı National Park lies in the Kahta district of Adıyaman, in the heart of the lands known in antiquity as Commagene. Stretching between the Taurus Mountains and the Euphrates River, this area brings together the most magnificent remains of the Kingdom of Commagene: the tumulus and giant statues of King Antiochos at the summit of Mount Nemrut, Eski Kale, Karakuş Tepesi, the Cendere Bridge and Yeni Kale. The park stands out with hiking and climbing routes that link history and nature. The first route begins at Karakuş Tepesi; crossing Keklik Mahallesi and the Cendere stream, it passes through the villages of Yolaltı and Damlacık to reach Arsameia in the north and, via Sırakaya, Karadut village in the south. Along the scenic viewpoints, the traces of the ancient world are discovered in the open air.
