Şaban Kalesi Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2019, Şaban Kalesi Nature Park spreads over an area of 59 hectares in the Güce district of Giresun, within the boundaries of the villages of Giyimli, Bada Çukuru, and Dokuzkonak. Standing out with its rich historical past as well as its natural resource values, the park is one of the rare places offering nature and history together. Şaban Kalesi within the park is a third-degree archaeological site, and settlement in the region dates back to the 1300s. The most important part of the Harşit Defense, the final point of the struggle against the Russian occupation during the War of Independence, took place here; 19 martyrs' graves, trenches, and a stone oven belonging to the soldiers can still be seen in the area. In the forest dominated by chestnut and alder and enriched with oak, beech, and hornbeam live bear, roe deer, fox, and wild boar, as well as birds of prey such as golden eagle, falcon, and eagle owl. In the park, 60 km from Giresun and 6 km from Güce, hiking, cycling, and nature tours can be enjoyed.
