Yedideğirmenler Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2013, the 103-hectare Yedideğirmenler Nature Park is located in Giresun's Espiye district, within the boundaries of the villages of Yeniköy, Akkaya, and Avluca. The park, where rock, groundwater, waterfall, and perennial stream ecosystems coexist, takes its name from the seven water mills in use since the villages were founded; six of these mills are still operated by the villagers today. The cave in the area, adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, can only be toured with professional guides and only after the month of August, due to its narrow entrance and its waterway character. The dominant tree species in the park is alder, with hornbeam, spruce, ash, and boxwood in places; in the understory, rhododendron and firethorn are seen. Mammals such as bears, roe deer, foxes, and martens, birds of prey such as golden eagles, hawks, and owls, as well as trout in its streams, inhabit the park. The park, 62 km from Giresun and 28 km from Espiye, serves visitors with a car park, a country restaurant, a small mosque, day-use areas, roofed picnic units, a tour route, and a local products sales unit.
