Seyfe Gölü Tabiatı Koruma Alanı
Located in a depression of tectonic origin northeast of Kırşehir in Central Anatolia, Lake Seyfe is a vast wetland encompassing a Nature Conservation Area and a Ramsar site. Situated in a topographically low-gradient closed basin, the lake surrounds a shallow lake whose size varies considerably depending on rainfall and the seasons. Part of the area was designated a natural protected site in 1989 and a nature conservation area in 1990, and was included in the Ramsar Convention list in 1994. The lake holds unique importance for birdwatching: one of the world's largest flamingo colonies shelters here. In autumn, hundreds of thousands of ducks and storks stop over at the lake, where teals, pelicans, herons, geese and gulls also feed; in spring, thousands of birds nest on the islets to the east. It is an area suitable for photo safaris, biodiversity tours, hiking and cycling. There are six villages around the lake, and it belongs to the Mucur district. The park is 220 km from Ankara and 30 km from Kırşehir.
