Tunca Vadisi Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2013, the 4,082-hectare Tunca Valley Nature Park lies within the boundaries of the town of Tunca in the Ardeşen district of Rize, to the northwest of the Altıparmak Mountains. The park has a highly variable topography, with an average altitude of 2,288 meters and a highest point reaching 3,280 meters. The park possesses a rich flora and fauna; 259 different plant taxa belonging to 56 families have been identified, 13 of which have been recorded as endemic. Forests in which beech intermingles with spruce, alder, chestnut and hornbeam cover a wide area; the understory holds shrubs such as rhododendron, elder, cherry laurel and bilberry, along with various ferns. With its high-altitude plateau landscape, the park is suitable for hiking, tent camping, enjoying the scenery and wildlife observation. The park, 44 km from Ardeşen and 90 km from the Rize city center, is reached via the E70 highway in the Rize-Artvin direction.
