Uludağ Milli Parkı
Rising to the south of Bursa, the 10,983-hectare Uludağ National Park was declared a national park in 1961. Thanks to its climate and geography, which change from its foothills to the summit, it is an area very rich in biological diversity and is recognised as one of our country's 144 Important Plant Areas. The forest belts arrayed from the Bursa plain up to the peaks are the area's most distinctive feature. In the park, 1,320 plant taxa have been identified, 30 of them endemic to Uludağ; the yellow gentian that grows on Tutyeli Hill is one of them. The wildlife is rich as well: an endemic subspecies of the endangered Apollo Butterfly lives here. Uludağ hosts nature activities in all four seasons. It is suitable for hiking and cycling routes, nature tours, rock climbing and paragliding. From Bursa, the Karabelen entrance gate is reached by a 22 km asphalt road; it is also possible to reach the Sarıalan Camping and Day-Use Area by cable car on an enjoyable journey of 20-25 minutes.
