Aladağlar Milli Parkı

Çamardı, Niğde

4.7

Declared in 1995, the 55,065-hectare Aladağlar National Park is a protected area between the provinces of Niğde, Kayseri and Adana, harboring the highest peaks of the Taurus mountain range. Situated in a transition zone between the Mediterranean climate and the steppe climate of Central Anatolia, the park is virtually an open-air museum with its geological and geomorphological richness. Within the park's boundaries lie outstanding natural assets such as Yedigöller, Hacer Forest, Aksu Canyon, Zamantı Valley, Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls, Demirkazık Peak and Emli Valley. Black pine, Turkish red pine, juniper, fir, cedar and oak trees, together with species such as thyme and prickly thrift, make up the region's rich vegetation. The area around Demirkazık is one of Turkey's leading centers for rock climbing and mountaineering; trekking routes, tent camping, photo safaris and scenic viewpoints also await visitors. Demirkazık village is reached by Çamardı buses from Niğde and Adana; the Niğde-Çamardı distance is 65 km.
