Alleben-Yamaçtepe Tabiat Parkı
Stretching across the Yamaçtepe locality in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, west of the city center, the 282-hectare Alleben-Yamaçtepe Nature Park was declared a nature park in 2016. One of Gaziantep's two main nature parks along with Dülükbaba, the area is a favorite for weekend getaways, being only 6 kilometers from the city. Taking its name from the nearby Alleben Pond and the village of Yamaçtepe, the park stands out with the visual richness along the shore of the pond reservoir. The park's main source value is its Turkish red pine forests; this green fabric is accompanied by maple, ash, and ornamental trees. In the area, home to foxes, hares, and various birds, the bird species passing through especially during migration periods are of interest to observers. Within the park boundaries there are an entrance control point, WC, prayer room, picnic units, children's playgrounds, and a nature education center; the country houses and dining hall at the center host school trips and education programs. For individual visitors, day picnics, hiking, and cycling stand out. The park, reached in about 10 minutes from Gaziantep city center, is accessed by following the road branching off from the Çevreyolu Yamaçtepe Junction. Bus lines B10 and B29 provide direct public transport access to the area.
