Gaziantep Milli Mücadele Tabiat Parkı
Located in the Şahinbey district in the north of Gaziantep, the 29.6-hectare Gaziantep Milli Mücadele Nature Park was declared a nature park in 2018. It is situated 25 km from the city centre, at the Bostancık locality on the Gaziantep-Kilis road, immediately west of the Şahinbey Monument. The park was established in an area of historical importance, with the aim of keeping the spirit of the National Struggle alive. The Elmalı Bridge, where Şahin Bey, hero of the Defence of Antep, fell as a martyr in 1920, and the Dokurcum Mill, where 14 children caught while carrying food to him were martyred, are located in the immediate surroundings of the area. It is a meaningful place where nature and history are commemorated together. The park, which largely preserves its natural character, has been planted with Turkish red pine and cypress in its eastern sections. It is suitable for day-use relaxation, nature walks, and monument visits. It is reached from the 28th kilometre of the Gaziantep-Kilis highway.
