Görnek Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2011, the 5.1-hectare Görnek Nature Park lies on the border of the Köprübaşı and Çaykara districts of Trabzon, in the middle of a unique Eastern Black Sea landscape. Oriental spruce dominates the forests nourished by intense humidity and abundant rainfall; in the understory, yellow rhododendron thickets add a vivid texture to the natural scenery. Closely related to the Caucasian flora, the region hosts many Caucasian endemic plants and is counted among ecosystems of global conservation priority. The forest trails make it an ideal route for nature walks, cycling tours and scenic viewing. The park is 21 km from Çaykara and 17 km from the Köprübaşı district. The area, about 49-75 km from the Trabzon city center, is reached by private vehicle on roads whose final section is gravel.
