Hacıosman Ormanı Tabiatı Koruma Alanı
Placed under protection in 1987, the 127-hectare Hacıosman Forest Nature Conservation Area is located in the Çınarlık locality of Samsun's Çarşamba district. It is a rare and endangered floodplain (alluvial) forest ecosystem of Europe-wide importance. The ash-leaved wingnut, characteristic of the region, is the most valuable species of this protected area. The forest, where beech, sessile and pedunculate oak, hornbeam, ash, elm, maple, and ivy intertwine, is home to rich wildlife. Roe deer, wild boar, jackal, fox, and hedgehog as well as buzzards, falcons, heron species, Eurasian jays, and various ducks can be observed in the area. With this character, the forest offers an ideal setting for hiking, bird and wildlife watching, and photography. The area is about 23.5 km from Samsun city center. Heading from Samsun toward Ordu, turn at the 20th kilometer onto the road to Aksa Tarım İşletmeleri and continue along a 3.5 km gravel road to reach it.
