Karaekşi Tabiat Parkı
The 8.5-hectare Karaekşi Nature Park, located within the borders of Mersin's Mut district, was declared a nature park in 2011. The park's most distinctive features are its forest fabric, the clear spring water emerging from the site and its pleasant-looking stream bank. The site's principal tree species are Turkish red pine and plane; along the stream banks one encounters ash, willow, poplar, juniper and, in shrub form, oleander and blackberry. The park and its surroundings are also rich in herbaceous plants. The area is home to species such as squirrel, fox, hedgehog, partridge, little owl and Eurasian jay, as well as various lizard, snake and frog species. The park has an entrance control building, a country restaurant, a kiosk, a small mosque and a children's playground. Visitors can picnic, hike and cycle on the existing trails, and enjoy angling by the stream. The park, 7 km from the Mut district center, is reached via the Mut-Kozlar yaylası road.
