Karamık Sazlıkları Sulak Alanı
Stretching between the settlements of Karamık, Devederesi and Orhaniye in the Çay district of Afyonkarahisar, Karamık Sazlıkları is a vast lake and reedbed ecosystem of 15,785 hectares, declared a wetland of national importance in 2019. The lake, at 1002 meters above sea level, has a surface area of 6015 hectares; its depth is generally 1-2 meters, reaching 3-4 meters in the central parts. The reedbeds, covered with common reed and water lilies, host rich birdlife; the great egret, pygmy cormorant and green sandpiper are among the species that can be observed here. The area has a bird-watching tower, and day-trip picnicking is also possible. Nature tourism activities such as bird watching, tent camping and recreational angling stand out at the site. Karamık Sazlıkları lies east of the Konya-Denizli highway and is about 45 km from the city center of Afyonkarahisar; it can be reached by public transport as well as by private car.
