Akşehir ve Eber Gölleri Sulak Alanı
The Akşehir and Eber Lakes Wetland is a vast lake ecosystem of national importance spread across the provinces of Konya and Afyonkarahisar. Registered as a Wetland of National Importance in 2017, the area, with a registered boundary of 117,779 hectares, is one of the region's most important waterbird habitats. Lake Eber and Lake Akşehir were declared 1st-degree natural protected sites as early as 1992. Administratively, the sub-basin covers 5 district centers, 22 towns and 48 villages; Akşehir, Tuzlukçu, Çay and Sultandağı are the main districts located in this area. The most remarkable plant of the area is the endemic Eber Sarısı, which grows nowhere in the world but around the Akşehir and Eber lakes. With their rich birdlife, the lakes and the surrounding reed beds offer an ideal natural setting for birdwatching and photography. The day-use area is located in Çayırpınar Köyü in the Çay district, in the buffer zone of Lake Eber. The area can only be reached by private vehicle.
