Erkmen Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2018, Erkmen Nature Park is located in central Afyonkarahisar, in the Inner Western part of the Aegean Region. Thanks to its position in the transition zone between the Irano-Turanian and Mediterranean floristic regions, the park has rich vegetation. The chestnut stands covering the northern foothills of the surrounding hills are the area's most striking feature; among them spread species such as forest poplar, aspen, blackberry, hawthorn, rosehip, and wild pear. Suitable for day-use relaxation, the park offers its visitors a calm forest atmosphere with scenic viewpoints and nature walking routes. The village cuisine and local flavours of the surrounding area also make it a stop for visitors with an interest in gastronomy. Located about 2.5 km south of the Afyonkarahisar-Kütahya highway, the park is reached by an asphalt road from the highway to the town of Erkmen, and by an interlocking paved road from the town to the park boundaries.
