26 Ağustos Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2008, the 64.83-hectare 26 Ağustos Nature Park is located within the boundaries of the town of Akören in the Sinanpaşa district of Afyonkarahisar. In this area, which has a rich flora and fauna, nearly 87 plant species have been identified; pedunculate and sessile oak, Anatolian chestnut, cedar, white poplar, willow, along with hawthorn, cornelian cherry and heather shrubs shape the forest. Along with bird species such as coot, sparrow, crow and swallow, the marsh frog is also seen, and the park is a day-use recreation area suitable for nature walks, cycling and nature tours. An observation tower, an open-field sports area and a country restaurant offer comfort to visitors; the roughly 1.8 km long interlocking-paver road within the area loops around the day-use zone in a ring. The park, 16 km from the city centre of Afyonkarahisar and 15 km from the Sinanpaşa district, is easily reached by road; its location at the Afyonkarahisar-İzmir-Antalya junction makes access easy.
