Şahinkaya Kanyonu Tabiat Parkı
Registered in 2015, the 1,032-hectare Şahinkaya Kanyonu Nature Park stretches around a narrow, winding canyon in the Vezirköprü district of Samsun. Turkish red pines, olive trees, and sandal trees clinging to the rocks lend the park an almost enchanting appearance. The park stands out with its rich vegetation: 256 different plant taxa belonging to 82 families have been identified within its boundaries, 36 of which are endemic. One of the most enjoyable ways to explore the canyon is by boat tours; as you glide between the narrow gorges, the sky and cliffs above create a unique view. With walking routes and nature tours, one can also spend the whole day here. The park is 17 km from the Vezirköprü district and 125 km from the city center of Samsun, and is reached via an asphalt road. It can also be reached by waterway on the canyon tour boats departing from Vezirsuyu Nature Park and the Çeltek Recreation Area.
