Yakupabdal Tabiat Parkı
Yakupabdal Nature Park is located within the boundaries of Bayburt's Demirözü district and takes its name from a nearby village. The park, entirely state forest, is a recreation area favored by local people for picnics, especially in late spring and summer. The forest areas consist mainly of pure Scots pine, pure poplar, and mixed Scots pine-poplar stands; the trembling aspen forests along the stream and the forest clearings add variety to the scenery. Within the park boundaries, 197 genera belonging to 54 families and a total of 357 different plant taxa have been identified, 24 of which have been found to be endemic. Some species are protected under the Bern Convention, CITES, and IUCN threat categories. Suitable for day picnics, hiking, cycling tours, and open-air activities, the park also offers opportunities for children's activities. Due to the altitude, winter conditions are harsh; most of the precipitation falls in winter and spring, while July and August are hot and dry months.
