Yavşan Yaylası Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2009, Yavşan Yaylası Nature Park is a protected area in Kahramanmaraş's Onikişubat district, situated in the transition belt between the Eastern Mediterranean Region and the Irano-Turanian phytogeographic regions. The highland has an old natural forest ecosystem of black pine, fir, and cedar, with cedar and fir as the dominant tree species. Quite rich in flora, the area has 534 identified plant taxa, 68 of which are endemic. Threatened species include plants such as Scorzonera lasiocarpa and Cyclamen pseudo-ibericum, classified as 'endangered' by the IUCN. Moles, wild hares, weasels, foxes, and wild boars are among the animals observed in the park. The day-use areas are suitable for picnics; the park has WCs, a small mosque, gazebos, fire pits, and a children's playground. Hiking is possible on the forest trails. The park is 36 km from the center of Kahramanmaraş and 7 km from Dereboğazı Village, the nearest settlement, and is reached via asphalt and interlocking paved roads.
