Yozgat Çamlığı Milli Parkı
Declared in 1958, Yozgat Çamlığı National Park holds the distinction of being Turkey's first national park. Spread over an area of 517 hectares in the central district of Yozgat, the park takes its name from the Anatolian black pine it contains. In the park, where coniferous trees are generally dominant, in addition to black pine and Scots pine there are aspen, oak, juniper and hawthorn species; it has a rich flora with 212 plant species belonging to 43 families. The fauna is just as diverse: mammals such as wild boar, red squirrel, fox, hedgehog and marten, along with many bird species such as golden eagle, red kite, sparrowhawk, kestrel and Eurasian jay, as well as various reptiles and frogs can be observed in the area. As soon as you enter the area from the entrance checkpoint, you are met with the unique view of the Cevdet Dündar Pond. With its hiking and cycling routes, scenic viewpoints and birdwatching opportunities, the park is well suited to day-trip nature getaways. It is easily reached via the E88 highway that passes through the centre of Yozgat.
