Bolu Gölcük Tabiat Parkı
Gölcük, the nature park closest to the city center of Bolu, spreads over an area of 376 hectares at an altitude of about 1,217 meters on the foothills of Köroğlu. Set aside as an in-forest recreation spot in 1958, the area gained nature park status in 2011. Forests of pure fir and of fir mixed with beech and hornbeam intertwine with the mountain landscape surrounding the lake, creating a tranquil natural scene. Thanks to its proximity to the center, it is a popular escape both on weekdays and at weekends. Walking routes around the lake, cycling tours, nature excursions in the forest and rowboat rides on the lake offer visitors an enjoyable time. Facilities in the area include a country restaurant, a prayer room, toilets and children's playgrounds. The park is reached from the city center of Bolu via the town of Karacasu by an entirely paved road of about 10-11 km; the area is accessible by public transport and private vehicle.
