Düzce Gölyaka Efteni Gölü Sulak Alanı
Stretching between villages belonging to the central and Gölyaka districts of Düzce, Efteni Lake is an important 764-hectare natural area holding Wildlife Development Area and wetland status. The lake surface within the embankment reaches 158 hectares. Established in 1992 as a waterfowl protection and breeding site, the area was expanded over the years and declared the Efteni Lake Wildlife Development Area in 2005. In 2018, it was included among our country's wetlands of national importance. The lake and its surroundings host a rich diversity of life; numerous invertebrate species and various fish species are distributed here. In this respect, the area is a calm wetland ecosystem well suited to birdwatching and nature photography.
