Kocain Mağarası Tabiat Anıtı
Reached via Ahırtaş Mahallesi in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya, the Kocain Cave Natural Monument is a 61-hectare area placed under protection in 2013. Known for its monumental stalactites and stalagmites, the cave reflects both the natural and human history of the region with its impressive geological formations as well as its prehistoric finds and the inscriptions that can be read on its walls. The cave inscriptions, spanning from the prehistoric period to the Byzantine era, shed light on the archaeology of Antalya and its surroundings; in this respect Kocain carries an important heritage in both natural and cultural terms. The cave lies within a juniper forest formation, and 79 plant taxa have been identified in its surroundings; of these, Kahve Dikeni, Örensıracaotu, and Danakuyruğu are endemic to the region. Those wishing to see the cave must come after obtaining permission from the Güllük Dağı National Park Directorate.
