Sığla Ormanı Tabiatı Koruma Alanı
The Kargı Köyü Anadolu Sığla Ormanı Nature Conservation Area in Burdur's Bucak district is a protected area of 88.5 hectares registered in 1987. The pure stands of Anatolian sweetgum (storax tree), which give the area its name, intertwine with alder, Turkey oak, Turkish red pine and oriental plane to form a rare forest texture. Shrub species such as laurel, myrtle, oleander and mastic enrich the forest's understory. The Aksu Stream, which flows through the area, is home to numerous aquatic creatures and is a nourishing source for the fauna of the Karacaören II dam lake. The kingfisher, little grebe, various herons, white-tailed eagle, long-legged buzzard, tawny owl and green woodpecker are among the area's characteristic birds. Reached via the Burdur-Acıpayam-Denizli highway, the area is 9 km from the Yeşilova district center and 69 km from Burdur. It is open to nature observation with scientific tours and walking routes.
