Yazılı Kanyon Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 1989, the 600-hectare Yazılı Kanyon Nature Park is a protected area in Isparta's Sütçüler district, notable for the geomorphological structure of the Western Mediterranean, its rich vegetation, and its wildlife. The canyon, whose depth varies in places between 100 and 400 meters, draws visitors with both its natural beauty and the archaeological treasures it harbors. The road leading to the canyon entrance offers one of Turkey's most enjoyable walking routes. Alders, Turkey oaks, wild olives, laurels, and myrtle trees line the paths, while the Göksu, flowing below, accompanies the way. In autumn, the yellowing leaves come together with the clearing waters, and in spring the songs of the woodpecker, the tit, the robin, and the dipper mingle with the sound of the water. The area contains the Yazılı Kaya rock inscription and temple, the stone-paved royal road stretching from the ruins of Psidia (Adada) to Aspendos, and a historic cave. According to legend, this road was also used by Saint Paul; the rock inscription along it bears the poem on freedom by Epictetus, who was born a slave and died a famous philosopher.
