Kuzuyayla Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2011 in Kocaeli's Kartepe district, Kuzuyayla Nature Park is located at an altitude of 1,390 meters in Kartepe, a popular destination for nature tourism. On the plateau surrounded by pine, beech and linden trees and colorful flowers, pristine forest air meets views of the Gulf of İzmit and Lake Sapanca. Receiving heavy snowfall in the winter months, the park welcomes visitors in all four seasons with its silence and natural beauty. In the area dominated by fir, beech, oak, hornbeam and chestnut trees, where pure beech forests can be seen in places, species such as red deer, brown bear, roe deer, jackal and fox live. Within the area there are two country restaurants, a prayer room, toilets and picnic tables. Close to densely populated settlements such as Istanbul, Sakarya and Bursa, the park is 34 km from İzmit center. The area is reached by asphalt road, following the Maşukiye road in the Kartepe district toward the summit.
