Mızıkçamı Tabiat Anıtı
Located within the bounds of Domurköy in Kütahya's Domaniç district, the Mızıkçamı Nature Monument was placed under protection in 1993. According to legend, Osman Bey, founder of the Ottoman Empire, was rocked as a baby in a cradle hung from the branches of this pine by his grandmother Hayme Ana and lulled to sleep with lullabies. For this reason, the tree is popularly known as Mızık Çamı or Beşik Çamı. The age of this monumental tree, a black pine (Pinus nigra), was determined to be 743 in a study carried out in 1980. With a circumference of 1.5 metres and a height of 11 metres, the tree is an imposing presence that has witnessed important moments in history. Toppled from its roots by a violent wind in 1988, the pine is today preserved lying on concrete supports without touching the ground. Held sacred and cherished by the local people, who believe in the legend that anyone who burns a piece broken from its branches at home will see their own house burn down, the tree is only 3 km from Domaniç. Those who come to see the monumental tree can also get to know the region's nature up close.
