Örümcek Ormanı Tabiatı Koruma Alanı
Declared in 1998, the 271-hectare Örümcek Ormanları Nature Conservation Area lies within the boundaries of Yeşilköy and Güvende yaylası in the Kürtün district of Gümüşhane. The forests stretch between elevations of 990 and 1720 meters and form a unique protected area where beech, spruce, fir, and Scots pine intertwine. Beech stands out on deep, gently sloping soils, spruce on shallow soils, and fir in the sections where the slope is steeper; these species form various mixtures in the north and the central part. In the stream vegetation extending along the Gücükdene Stream, alder, plane, trembling aspen, and willow occur, along with species such as hornbeam, maple, elm, rowan, linden, and ash in the humid rocky areas. It is an area suitable for nature tours, hiking, and photography, notable for its old forest fabric. The area is reached from Gümüşhane center by following the E97 and D877 highways and continuing on the road that branches off to the right before reaching the Kürtün district center.
