Samandere Şelalesi Tabiat Anıtı

Yanık-Samandere Köyü İç Yolu, 81100 Derdin/Düzce Merkez, Düzce

4.6

Located in the village of Samandere in the central district of Düzce, the Samandere Waterfall Natural Monument, registered in 1988 and spreading over an area of 10.19 hectares, is Turkey's first registered Natural Monument. The waters feeding the waterfall join the Uğursuyu and reach Lake Efteni, and from there flow via the Büyük Melen Çayı into the Black Sea. The waterfall's surroundings feature interesting geological formations such as cataracts, cascades, and "witch's cauldron" plunge pools, as well as rich and pristine vegetation that in places also includes monumental trees. Home to species such as maple and strawberry tree, the area offers a unique setting for hiking, nature photography, and enjoying the scenery. The waterfall, 24 km from the center of Düzce, is easily reached both on foot and by vehicle by heading south from the Düzce ring road to the town of Beyköy and from there to the village of Samandere.
