Sülüklügöl Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2011, the 803-hectare Sülüklügöl Nature Park, in the Mudurnu district of Bolu, is a unique piece of nature where lake, wetland and forest ecosystems intertwine. Natural forests of Uludağ fir, Scots pine, black pine, beech and hornbeam have survived to the present day with minimal human impact; the higher-altitude sections stand out for their endemic plant diversity. What makes the lake special are the pine and oak trees left standing in the water after the ground collapsed through tectonic movements. These dried trunks create a striking scene in the middle of the lake, especially when the waters recede in the summer months. Besides hiking, cycling, rock climbing and angling, the park also allows for glamping and photo safari experiences. The area, 85 km from the Bolu city center, is reached by private vehicle. The road branching off at Elmalık on the TEM motorway or at the Yolçatı locality on the D-100 highway connects to the park via Taşkesti and Tavşansuyu Köyü; the distance between Tavşansuyu and Sülüklügöl is 9 km.
