Sünnet Gölü Tabiat Parkı
Sünnet Gölü, located in the Göynük district of Bolu, was placed under protection as a recreation area in 1973 and declared a nature park in 2011 with an area of about 88 hectares. Surrounded by black pine forests, the lake offers a peaceful day-trip escape with the calm nature around it. The park hosts a rich plant diversity; studies conducted in the area have recorded more than 268 plant taxa belonging to 88 families, along with six endemic species. These endemic species are concentrated especially in the forest areas to the north, west and south of the park. In the floodplains around the streams flowing into the lake, different species can be encountered. The fauna includes salamanders, various frog and reptile species, and mammals such as hares, bats and rodents. Visitors can enjoy hiking, scenic viewing and day recreation opportunities. It is about 85 km from the Bolu city center and 20 km from the Göynük district center.
