Yedigöller Milli Parkı
Declared a national park in 1965, the 1,623-hectare Yedigöller National Park is a protected area in the Western Black Sea region, north of Bolu, far from noise, where the sounds of water, birds and wind meet the forest. It takes its name from seven landslide lakes formed when sliding masses blocked the mouths of valleys and which are connected to one another by underground flows: Sazlıgöl, İncegöl, Nazlıgöl, Küçükgöl, Deringöl, Büyükgöl and Seringöl. The dominant vegetation in the park is beech forest; trees such as oak, hornbeam, alder, black pine, Scots pine, fir, linden and yew also accompany this rich fabric. The Byzantine-period remains at the Köyyeri site show that the region was an old settlement. The Bolu Massif, which contains some of Turkey's oldest rocks, also makes the park attractive for geotourism. The hiking routes stretching between the lakes, the scenic viewpoints and the tranquil forest paths offer visitors a different nature experience in every season. It is about 42 km from the city centre of Bolu.
