Çubuk Karagöl Tabiat Parkı
Located in Ankara's Çubuk district, 68 km from the provincial center and 28 km from Çubuk, Çubuk Karagöl Nature Park was declared a nature park in 2011 and, with a later boundary expansion, reached 114 hectares. Karagöl and the forests surrounding it constitute the park's main resource values. The microclimate created by the lake gives the area, despite its small size, a remarkably rich diversity of habitats; hundreds of plants, including species endemic to Turkey, along with numerous bird and mammal species live here. The park, where forest and water ecosystems intertwine, is a quiet nature getaway for Ankara. Scenic viewpoints on the lakeshore, the surrounding hiking and cycling routes, rowboat rides on the lake and picnics in the shade of the trees offer visitors an enjoyable day. The park is reached via the road branching off to the northwest from the Çubuk district center; the nearest airport is Esenboğa, 52 km away.
