Koçkayası Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2011, the 252.16-hectare Koçkayası Nature Park is located in the Kümbet village and Koçkayası plateau area of the Dereli district of Giresun. Bringing together rock, plateau, perennial stream and forest ecosystems, the park is remarkably rich in biodiversity. Crossed by the Karadere and the Küçük Koçkayası stream, the area is dotted with dry creeks and countless water springs. In the forests, where oriental spruce and fern species are widespread, mammals such as bear, roe deer, wolf, fox and marten live alongside birds of prey such as the golden eagle, hawk and eagle owl. Wild trout are caught in its streams. With accommodation options consisting of country houses, duplexes and stone houses, a hotel, a country restaurant, a scenic viewpoint and a tour route, the park is suitable both for day trips and for plateau holidays. The area, 65 km from Giresun and 30 km from Dereli, is reached via an asphalt road.
