Kayabaşı Tabiat Parkı
Declared a nature park in 2011 and later expanded to 134.1 hectares, Kayabaşı Nature Park lies within the boundaries of the Akçaabat district of Trabzon. With its pure spruce forests, riotously colorful vegetation, highland settlements and deep-rooted highland pasture culture, it is one of the areas that attracts intense interest from both the local people and, in the summer months, from expatriates. In addition to spruce, rhododendron, rosehip, primrose, buttercup and various meadow plants grow in the park, which is home to species such as hedgehog, hare, jackal, fox, roe deer, wild boar, squirrel, buzzard and sparrowhawk. With its flat areas and ease of use, it is suitable for nature walks, cycling and day recreation; it contains toilets, a small mosque, gazebos, a children's playground and a car park for 45 vehicles. The festivals held every year and the nearby pilgrimage sites also open it to faith tourism. Reached via the highway connecting Trabzon to the Düzköy district, the park is 56 km from Trabzon center and 43 km from Akçaabat.
